Hi all! I want to present you not quite a typical article, however, which may seem interesting to many, namely: an opinion on a passed branch. It will be interesting first of all to those who decide what to download next, and in the event that there are no special preferences. What will you see below? A brief description of each of the nine cars, highlighting bright pros and cons, and of course subjective feelings from its passage, which is also very important, because it is unlikely that many will want to go through the whole branch, wasting a lot of time, knowing that only “cacti” are waiting for you ahead, even if at the tenth level waiting for a very good tank. True, I want to warn you right away that it’s rather hard to say something about the first levels, because after playing only 10 fights, the sensations remain rather faded and inexpressive. However, this is unlikely to bother anyone much, because low-level cars go through quickly, and many generally start playing only from the fifth level.
So, we will talk about a branch of American tower anti-tank guns. Well, let's get started.

We start with T18. Even at this level, a pleasant surprise awaits us: this PT is able to bend very well. We have excellent second level frontal armor- 51 mm, good speed - up to 48 km / h, and a good choice of guns, among which we can distinguish 75 mm Howitzer M1A1 - a high-explosive gun with 175 average damage, which practically guarantees "one-shots" of the same level opponents. In general, a very pleasant car, and the only negative may be that it is passed too quickly, after all, the second level. However, no one bothers to leave it just for fun. T18 can safely be called a sandbox storm, playing it is a real pleasure.

Next comes the T82. It is also a rather interesting car, which also has good mobility - the same 48 km / h, but, unfortunately, unlike its predecessor, it does not differ in armor. However, the armor is fully redeemed by excellent weapons: there is a high-explosive bomb with crazy damage, capable of killing even more targets with one shot. high level, or an accurate and very penetrating 57mm cannon. It will be much more difficult to play on this PT than on T18, but if you use it correctly, the bend is guaranteed. And it’s more than pleasant to kill a KV-1 with two hits on a third-level AT.

Next comes M8A1 - not so bendy, but still a pretty good PT. It is from her that the PTs with the tower begin, and go like this until the very end of the branch. The M8A1 is no longer as remarkable as its predecessors: it does not have an imbovy land mine, not excellent armor. However, adding up all its advantages, of which there are many (excellent speed of 58 km/h, a rotating turret, and a gun with a good combination of armor penetration, accuracy and damage per minute), you can understand that in skillful hands this tank can easily pull out battles. Moreover, it is worth getting used to this kind of gameplay at the next levels: a cardboard PT with good tool and tower.

Having finished with M8A1, we enter the world of bending. The next vehicle, the T49, has everything you need to destroy the enemy, and is probably the most atypical of all the ATs in the game. Much more like a firefly - maximum speed 61 km / h, low silhouette, except that the review let us down - only 350 meters, but with optics, and at such a speed, in some cases it is possible to highlight. And don't forget about the rotating (albeit extremely slowly) turret, and a good choice of guns, among which you can choose either a gun with higher damage, or a more accurate one with excellent damage per minute. The only thing that makes us very different from a firefly is that it is very difficult to spin someone due to the too slow turn of the tower, but it fully pays off. excellent choice guns.

Next comes the well-known M18 Hellcat, which is considered by many to be almost the best tank destroyer in the game. And, although it is just as atypical for the PT class, like the M8A1, it has more than enough pluses, and there is something to love it for. We still don’t have armor, moreover, it’s even less than that of the M8A1, but there’s not much difference in this, they still pierce both all the same and always, but in the case of the M18, there is at least a small chance of not penetrating into the tower - in forehead 76 mm. With mobility, everything is not as good as before, but not bad either. Although the maximum speed is indicated as 72 km / h, in reality we will drive around 50 km / h, which is also very good. It is also worth taking into account a good overview - 370 meters, and excellent aiming angles -10 .... +20. And of course, one cannot but mention an excellent weapon - 160 mm of penetration and 240 one-time damage, coupled with excellent accuracy, make for an excellent weapon. Adding up all the pluses (and this PT has practically only them), we get an excellent car, having played it a couple of times, it immediately becomes clear why everyone loves it so much.

Next comes T25/2. Also a very good PT, but the M18 is still a little losing (with a discount on the levels of battles, of course). The first thing that catches your eye is the significantly increased size, that is, now you should not count on the fact that we will not be noticed right away. However, everything else remains the same. Remaining true to tradition, we don’t have armor, but at least land mines won’t take us head-on, and you can rely on the gun mask in general - it can quite often reflect shells from not very serious guns. The speed is not so great anymore - the maximum speed is 56 km / h, but in reality, as always, the average speed will be much lower, but still, together with the ST, we are quite capable of driving. With the rest, everything is the same as before - the tower barely turns, the aiming angles are still just as good, and the gun as a whole is not bad, except that the penetration is disappointing - only 170, which, when playing with tenth levels, does not go anywhere. However, it all depends on the style of play, and perhaps someone might like the T25/2. This PT no longer drags like the ones that came before it, but it is not difficult to master, and it will not be a problem to pass it, and even some fun is guaranteed.

And on this we move on to the most delicious and interesting - 8, 9, and 10 levels.
At level 8, we have the T28 prototype, and it's really out of line. After the previous machines, it will be quite difficult to play on it, it is very different from them. We get the long-awaited, and by the way, very good armor, but we pay for it with speed. And how we pay... Playing on this T28 prot, you will envy even the owners of British PTs, even they will overtake you. So, top speed *drumroll*… 18 kilometers per hour. Yeah, after the previous PTs with their speed, it will be a real torment. However, if you have patience, it becomes clear that T28 prot. very good: the frontal armor perfectly saves from enemy projectiles (of course, until they go to gold), and the gun does excellent damage. Plus, the tower also rotates, though not completely, but most often it is enough. It is worth mentioning the gun separately: we have average accuracy, but excellent breakdown (248) and good damage (400), and even a good rate of fire, so we have an excellent gun. By the way, about booking: it is good only in the frontal projection, on the sides, stern and roof, we will endure even from land mines, let alone artillery. As a conclusion to this machine, we can say that it is very peculiar, and you will have to put a lot of self-control to pass it, but just like in the case of the T25 / 2, it has quite pronounced advantages that do not allow the game to fall into the sludge on it . Yes, there is also a transition from it to an alternative branch of American PTs, although in this case you will have to endure such a speed for another 2 cars.

Having rolled back the painfully slow T28 prot., we get the long-awaited T30 - a very interesting, and in skillful hands, a very bending car. Opening it, we return to the origins - we again have no armor. To understand this, just look at it. appearance- and outwardly, it is almost indistinguishable from the T34 and T29, and their armor is also the same, and the T29 breaks through quite often even at the seventh level, to say nothing of 9 and 10 - our 102 mm there do not save even from fireflies. And given our not very high mobility - the maximum speed is 35, but in the game it is around 25-30 and the lack of armor, as well as the presence of powerful artillery at high levels, it is clear that the position must be chosen very carefully. But if in the case of the hull, we have nothing to show, then our turret holds the damage as it should - they can only penetrate into the commander's turret, but it is very difficult to hit it. And our most important advantage is the tool. In terms of numbers, it is almost similar to the object 704’s gun, and that’s exactly what it is – absolutely crazy numbers: 276 penetration and 750 one-time damage, although the accuracy is 0.39 and the charge is about 16-17 seconds, which makes you carefully aim and choose the moment for a shot. Given these advantages, "tanking with a turret", or moving out from behind cover to exchange shots, we can deal crazy damage per game. T30 is a great car, but, as always, it has its drawbacks and advantages. With the right choice of position, she can very well pile on opponents with powerful splashes. After the passage, pleasant sensations remain, and the desire to leave the T30 in the hangar for pleasure.

And now we finally get what we have been going for so long - anti-tank guns with armor and heavy load mobility, a turret and an excellent weapon. And the T110E4 does not disappoint - indeed, everything is true, in terms of speed, of course, we are a little behind the same T110E5, but this is not critical. The tower rotates only 180 degrees, so what, we are PT, we should not have a tower at all! And the armor is just as pleasing, the numbers seem to be small, however, substituting the body with a rhombus, dancing, it is often quite difficult to break through the T110E4, but she does not have such a problem - after all, three hundred penetration and 850 average damage can surprise anyone. And do not forget about a solid margin of safety - 2000 hp. The only thing that disappoints is the same long reload time of the gun (16 seconds), and rather mediocre accuracy, it is quite easy to miss with this gun. But given all the other benefits, this is the least we can pay. And again, you can play it as a typical heavy with an eye to a long reload, which brings its share of pleasure to the gameplay. The T110E4 is a very pleasant car to handle, which is worth finishing this thread, especially since it also brings mostly positive emotions to this passage.

Well, in the end, I would like to say something like a conclusion about the branch itself: for me personally, absolutely all the cars were pretty in their own way, and there was not a single one that I really would not like to play on. Starting from the second and ending with the tenth level, it was interesting to play, and I did not want to abandon pumping, as sometimes happens in other cases. In general, this is probably one of the best branches in the game in terms of balance, and if you do not know what to download next, I could advise it.

On this moment There are five full-fledged artillery branches in the World of Tanks game. They include vehicles from the second to the tenth level. Artillery branches are possessed by the USSR, Germany, USA, France and Great Britain. China and Japan do not have them, although the developers plan to correct this shortcoming in the distant future. Nevertheless, a newcomer to World of Tanks is hardly ready to upgrade all five (and even more) branches of artillery that currently exist (and even more in the future) just to find out which one is still the best.

Which branch of artillery or which nation available in World of Tanks is right for you, what criteria for choosing vehicles for download, and finally, which branch of artillery to prefer? These questions are answered in this guide.

Artillery in World of Tanks - which branch to choose?

In the Soviet branch of vehicles, it is first worth mentioning the SU-26 (third level), which has a wheelhouse that rotates 360 degrees. It used to be an extremely popular car, but after a series of nerfs, it turned into a solid mid-ranger. Next comes the SU-5, which has neither a cabin nor any acceptable firing range, but it has a very steep trajectory, which allows it to throw shells over obstacles.

At the fifth and sixth level, there are fairly ordinary cars without noticeable pros and cons. But the situation changes dramatically at the seventh level, at which the USSR has two self-propelled guns at once (one opens with the KV-2). They are equipped with extremely powerful guns for their tier, with 102 mm high-explosive shell penetration and 1850 damage per shot. A direct hit on the roof can send heavy tank even a level higher immediately to the hangar.

But it comes at the cost of terrible accuracy and a reload time of roughly 50 seconds. At the eighth and ninth levels, the gun remains the same, only the characteristics are slightly improved. But the top branch (Vol. 261) is a major change in concept. With a damage of 1700 units at a penetration of 102 mm, it is already difficult to surprise someone, these are weak indicators for the tenth level, but the good aiming speed (6.5 seconds) pleases, and the accuracy is one of the best. And good mobility allows you to quickly change position, which cannot be said about the previous machines of the branch.

In general, the Soviet branch cannot be called monotonous. But most time will have to play on slow machines that shoot extremely rarely, often smear, but when direct hit deal huge damage. At the same time, mediocre horizontal aiming angles with long aiming force you to spend a lot of time aiming, and a long reload greatly increases the price of each miss.

German artillery branch

The German branch of artillery cannot be called monotonous either. For example, horizontal aiming angles are constantly changing, they are best at the seventh level, this machine is generally distinguished by good accuracy and an acceptable rate of fire. But this is compensated by the average damage (1200 units) and penetration (88 mm) of a high-explosive projectile. But good mobility allows you to keep up with the allies and keep at an optimal distance from the enemy.

German vehicles are characterized by a good balance between accuracy and rate of fire, but they are huge and have terrible dynamics.

In general, up to the seventh level, inclusive, German vehicles are comfortable in the game and have a good balance between accuracy, damage, and rate of fire. At the eighth level, damage is seriously increased (up to 2000 units for a high-explosive projectile), and penetration is 105 mm. A similar weapon is placed on vehicles of the ninth and tenth level. But you have to pay for this simply by huge size and terrible dynamics. Moving from flank to flank can take several minutes, often during this time the battle simply ends without your participation. However, for passive play, when you are standing somewhere near the base, German artillery high levels fits perfectly.

American branch of artillery

Concerning American branch machines, then the top branch (T92) immediately catches the eye, which has a maximum damage of 2250 units (!) for a high-explosive projectile when penetrating 120 mm. But the accuracy is one of the worst in the game, the spread is 0.92. However, even a splash can take out 500 or more health points on weakly armored targets. But the rest of the machines of the branch are seriously different in concept.

Only vehicles of the eighth and ninth levels have significant one-time damage, here they are almost identical to the representatives of the Soviet branch. The cars that preceded them are solid mid-rangers, they are quite balanced in terms of damage, reload speed and aiming, but, on the other hand, they lack bright advantages, so you are unlikely to remember playing them. But, for example, the American SPG of the eighth level is considered one of the best precisely because of the comfort of playing on it.

French branch of artillery

Branch French self-propelled guns differs in that almost all the machines in it are made within the framework of a single concept. There are no abrupt transitions, so it is unlikely that you will have to completely relearn when leveling up. But it is important to note that the top of the branch has a loading drum for 4 shells, this is a unique case in World of Tanks, there is no other artillery with a loading drum.

French technique is distinguished by good accuracy and fast mixing, as well as excellent dynamics, which allows you to quickly change position.

But the drum recharges for a long 80 (!) seconds, during which your team can easily lose. Or win, nothing depends on you during these 80 seconds. The lowest single-shot damage among the tenth level self-propelled guns (1250 units) with mediocre penetration (95 mm) is also sad, but you can shoot four times in 18 seconds. All other vehicles of the branch of the loading drum are deprived, but low one-time damage compared to other single-level self-propelled guns is typical for almost all French artillery.

This is compensated by both good accuracy and fast mixing. Add here also excellent dynamics, for example, the top branch is capable of speeds of 62 km / h, this allows you to change position extremely quickly. In general, French artillery involves active gameplay, as far as it is possible on self-propelled guns. It is necessary to change position more often in order to shoot enemies in the side or even the stern. This will have to be done, because low penetration and one-time damage do not allow you to seriously damage most opponents when hit in the forehead.

British artillery

Finally, the British artillery branch is characterized by the steepest trajectory in World of Tanks, which allows you to throw explosives even over relatively high obstacles. But this is where the similarity between the machines of the entire branch ends. At low levels there are self-propelled guns, which do not stand out with anything remarkable, these are strong middlings. But on the sixth level there is the famous FV304, perhaps the most unusual self-propelled gun in the game.

British vehicles are miniature, fast-firing, but the one-time damage and penetration are low. As the level increases, the damage increases, but the accuracy of the hit remains relatively low.

It is distinguished by good dynamics, miniature size (like light tank) and an extremely weak but fast-firing gun. It fires approximately every 13 seconds, but the one-time damage (450) and penetration (57 mm) of a high-explosive projectile are extremely small. Moreover, the shooting range is so limited that you have to constantly move behind allied tanks in order to deal damage. But the trajectory of the projectile is such that it allows you to “smoke out” opponents because of positions beyond which other artillery cannot reach them.

The vehicle of the seventh level is a strong average car, its only striking feature is its greater speed backwards than forwards, but they get used to it in a couple of fights. And machines from the eighth to the tenth level are distinguished by high one-time damage with mediocre accuracy. The top branch in terms of one-time damage (2200 units) and penetration (117 mm) of a high-explosive shell is slightly behind the T92, and its accuracy is even worse (the spread is as much as 1.1). Probably, such terrible accuracy compensates, among other things, for the steep trajectory, which allows you to throw shells even behind houses.

Your choice?..

So, which branch of artillery should you upgrade? It's hard to answer, it depends a lot on personal preferences. If you are just starting to play World of Tanks, then the German and Soviet branches are probably the most suitable, they are the most “classic”, you can also advise the American branch, although the top is quite specific due to terrible accuracy.

Start with the "classics" - German or Soviet branches tanks and artillery. But later, switch to the French artillery branch.

If you have been in World of Tanks for a long time, you understand the mechanics of the game well, then you can advise the French, they are the least dependent on VBR, and excellent dynamics allow you to quickly change position, which, with good knowledge of the maps, allows you to take convenient positions. The British, in general, are quite specific, a steep trajectory, of course, allows you to throw shells behind high covers, but the reverse side of it is the most big time projectile flight, it is not easy to shoot with a lead.

Should US WoT tanks be upgraded?

Good weapons and the absence of frankly bad cars make the American branch one of the most attractive when choosing a development path new to World of tanks. In the development branch of US tanks, there are all classes of equipment, which is also a positive side.

Experienced players will also find a lot of useful information in American cars, skillful use of good elevation angles, combined with good turret armor, will achieve excellent results.

For example, the same 57 mm. accuracy is by no means 0.39 - but 0.34 - and the rate of fire is higher and this applies to other guns - certainly not 0.41 or 0.43 - but approximately 0.38 - 0.36 in the old way. So when you see 0.39 - don't be scared - it's 0.34 in the old way.


The only thing - which is completely incomprehensible - why are there SUCH walkie-talkies on the 4th level PT? This is what a mega firefly would work!

The second American tank destroyer T49.

A rather incomprehensible level 5 tank destroyer - according to performance characteristics, of course. No armor, but for some reason the top tower has a view of not 420 - but 380 ACCORDING TO THE CURRENT performance characteristics and how to sew PTs is not yet clear. As ST - yes, it's fine. The 76 mm cannon from the M10 pierces everyone at the 5th and 6th levels. It's not a PT, it's anything - but not a PT. Some kind of light specific CT with a powerful gun, but not a PT!

The stock version is rather incomprehensible - an open tower with a view of 420m. (according to the new TTX 370m.) And accurate 57 mm. cannon .... but ... we don’t have an M7, do we? The top tower has 380 meters according to the old one (according to the new 330m.) and not so accurate 76 mm.

The T49 upgrade tree is THE MOST AVAILABLE OF ALL TIER 5 TANK!! If you have M10 open, it will be even easier:


That is, in order to enter T49 into the top from scratch, you need only 5050 experience! And that's it! The top tank of the 5th level is ready! Top gun - pre-top - on M10. This is the same in terms of penetration as the top - an average of 128 mm. - but slightly less rate of fire and accuracy.

It is not yet clear how exactly it is better to use this unit - as a PT, as a ST - or as a light? Of course - the view of the top tower is reduced from 420 to 380 ... But after all, the same Stug has 350? Can T49 really be used as ST? it swings to the top in 2-3 fights - what else is needed! In terms of performance characteristics, even better than M4. There is something to think about!

The third American tank destroyer is the Witch (M18 Hellcat).
Perhaps the most incomprehensible - and at the same time the fastest tank destroyer of the 6th level, with the top Slugger cannon and a speed of 72 km/h.

In the beginning, the speed didn't make a special impression on me - well, fast - but not ah. It turns out I forgot to install the engine, but with the top engine, the full PPC begins. This is something! It's just not clear what this is - preparation for T20? analogue of Sherman? so this tank destroyer is faster and more dynamic than them. This PT needs to be chased after the T-50-2 - that's it! Put the fastest 76 mm. - and bring down the whole world. What else? He has no armor, unlike Slugger. Absolutely not. Quietly pt-sew in the bush? Why then such dynamics? In thought. The gun is accurate and penetrating, i.е. it will probably be a hit and precisely because of mobility.

The top gun is the same as Slugger's - the accuracy is 0.32 according to the old one - or 0.31 - the accuracy is less according to the new one. Pretty good at level 6.

The fourth American tank destroyer - T25/2.
Analog T25 AT. It has a tower and a greater view. These are probably the only positives. What is it - the better - worse than T25 - lower.

It still has a little more visibility than the T25 AT, but the gun is clearly too weak for tier 7 battles.

PT itself is good. Unusually slow speed is a little annoying - but you get used to it quickly. The most pleasant thing is the tower - you can feel like a heavy one, and if you are in the top ... you can calmly roll towards the enemy. At long distances over 200 mm. almost no one breaks armor. You can climb into close combat - but our speed is low.


Top gun pleases. Of course - to 105 mm. you get used to it. Especially, to its rate of fire. At 120 mm. reloading is longer - but penetration is higher. Yes, and damage!


What do you like:
Still, there is armor, you can safely shoot with some kind of long-range tanks. After all, these are not even American strands, in which only the tower does not break through in the forehead. Here the front of the hull itself is more than 200 mm. and with a slope. That is, only the top will pierce you - or someone who is gold.

Almost everything has already been studied, but the most important thing is that the top cannon + ventilation and a pipe fit onto the stock caterpillar:


For this tank, there are 2 cannons of the 10th level - 120 mm. T28 bullshit (on the T30 it has a higher rate of fire!) And a 155 mm hulk.



155 mm., of course, has more damage and penetration, but here's the mix ... how much more is that? get into close combat? so the first thing they will do is take us out. Not in the tower, of course - but in the forehead. Alpha damage is certainly impressive, so we will use 155 mm, but with the choice of skills we will have to "shaman".

In general, the Americans turned out to be a very interesting branch. A lot of interesting equipment, analogues, which have not yet been in the game.
There are 2 ways to switch from the main branch to the alternative branch: from T82 to M8A1 for 2350 experience or from M10 Wolverine immediately to M18 Hellcat for 19500 experience. The second option is more attractive to me, especially since I have the M10 open. You can gain experience in advance and wait for the release of the patch, which is about to be released.
